Deadline EXTENDED to apply for the Wonderful Public Service Graduate Fellowship
The Wonderful Public Service Graduate Fellowship aims to foster the next generation of San Joaquin Valley bi-partisan leaders and problem-solvers by helping San Joaquin Valley students obtain their graduate degree from top graduate programs and return home to apply what they have learned to make the San Joaquin Valley a better place.
This Fellowship program was made possible by a gift from Lynda and Stewart Resnick through the Resnick Foundation. As owners of The Wonderful Company, the Resnicks have a vested interest in the Central Valley. The Maddy Institute recognizes and applauds their visionary leadership in the Valley.
Two $56,000 Wonderful Public Service Graduate Fellowships will be awarded for the Fall of 2020.
For a General Overview of the program, please HERE
Please note that the goal of the program is to assist the brightest San Joaquin Valley students attend a top graduate program in one of the following areas:
- Public Administration
- Public Policy
- Urban Planning
We will also consider other academic areas of study if they would have a transformational impact on public policy in the Valley (eg. Social Work, Business/non-profit, etc.).
Since we want the Wonderful Public Service Fellows to return to the Valley after receiving the best possible graduate training, we have created a list of “Qualified Programs” (i.e. the programs we generally prefer). Please click HERE for a list of Qualified Programs.
We will consider applications from students who will be attending other graduate schools in public policy/public administration, urban planning, social work, and business that are not on this list of “Qualified Programs.” Such an application, however, will have to be especially compelling to warrant serious consideration.
Please note that special consideration will be given to former Maddy Legislative Interns and alumni, as well as those from Kern and Kings Counties.
We require the recipients of the Wonderful Public Service Fellowship to return to the San Joaquin Valley during the summer to do a paid ($6,000 of the $56,000 Fellowship) summer internship and, after he/she graduates, work in a San Joaquin Valley-based government entity, social service entity or non-profit for at least two years.
